Burns Drugs employs the latest compounding equipment, which enables our staff to achieve the smallest active ingredient particle size and complete and uniform mixing. Providing better adsorption and higher blood levels for topically applied transderman creams and gels, and resulting in a better outcomes for the patient.

Capsule Machine

The capsule machine enables our staff to create capsules that are allergen and dye-free.  Some special options we can create are gluten-free, lactose-free, and soy-free.  In addition, we are able to make cellulose based "veggie-capsules" for vegetarians.

Electric Mortar and Pestle

The EMP allows our technicians to mix creams, ointments, suspensions and solutions into homogenous mixtures.  The construction of the EMP allows technicians to place final products directly from the stirring jar into the dispensing jar without being exposed to the environment.  This helps to prevent cross-contamination and helps ensure patient safety.

Ointment Mill

This machine has three porcelain rollers that work to reduce drug particle size.  After the drug powders are added to a creamy base, the mixture is placed in the ointment mill, which grinds the creams and ointments.  Reduced particle size ensures that more of the medicine will be absorbed into the skin.
